Now that we have sprung our clocks forward, there are other very important things that must be done. Make sure to check all Smoke alarms, Carbon Monoxide detectors, and extinguishers located within your house. Also take this time to do some spring cleaning, making sure to clean exhaust piping from the dryer, and dust that may be in the rear of stoves and refrigerators and in baseboard heaters. When starting any motorized gas/diesel fueled lawn/garden equipment make sure area is well ventilated such as opening garage doors. Take this time also to teach your aging children what to do in case of a fire and also an escape plan for your house. If you have any questions please contact us 718-843-1716.
We need your help. On the night of Feb. 2nd, 2011 during the ice storm our 2008 ambulance was crashed into while operating at an accident on the Belt Parkway. Three of our members were transported to Jamaica Hospital with injuries as well as the passengers from the original accident and the car that struck the ambulance. Our 1995 Ambulance - A947-1 which is first due in inclement weather had broken down earlier in the night forcing us to use our better ambulance. Now we are under the weather as we only have two ambulances - one is in critical condition and one is unreliable. Please aid us in funding for a new ambulance or in the worst case two new ambulances. We responded to over 400 EMS related emergencies with these ambulances. To make a donation please enclose a check or money order made out to: West Hamilton Beach Volunteers and it can mailed to: West Hamilton Beach Volunteers C/O Ambulance Fund PO Box 177 Howard Beach NY 11414
